Selling on Walmart should be easy, right? Wrong. If you’re already selling on Amazon and think the transition to Walmart will be a breeze, you’ll be shocked to know that it’s quite a tricky process. In the session, we teamed up with Carrie Miller, a brand evangelist and expert at selling on Walmart, to guide you through the procedures and help you get accepted by the hypermarket chain. Walmart has many hoops to jump through before you can list your products. More often than not, sellers get rejected because they fail to carefully tick off each of the steps in accordance with Walmart’s rigorous selling procedure.

The benefit of selling on Walmart is that there’s not much competition. Meaning your product has more chance of being sold and picked up by customers or browsers on the website.

Also, Walmart has almost 5,500 superstores across the US (statistica.com) that are essentially used as their distribution centers, compared to Amazon’s 110 site locations. (threadinmotion.com).

To sell on Walmart, you need to find your niche! Carrie explained how Walmart refrains from ‘copies,’ essentially products that are too similar to other products they already sell. To avoid this, consider what you can do to make your product different and stand out from the crowd.

Another step in the Walmart listing process is showing evidence that you are an established e-commerce company with an excellent track record of high-quality customer service. You can provide these stats through your Amazon views and shipment ratings/timings. Walmart likes to see that you can ‘ship quickly’ to please and satisfy your customers.
